Windom Dual Language Immersion

Scope of Work

Upgrade lunchroom and kitchen facilities to reflect current District food service operations, and enhance student safety through the redesign of the main building entrance. Replace certain building systems that are beyond their system lifecycle.

Project Updates:

October 9, 2019: A section of Blaisdell Ave between 58th and 59th will be closed next week due to sewer work for the new addition. The section of road will be closed 10/16, 10/17, 10/18. Please plan accordingly. 

October 7, 2019: The interior renovation of the front entry and administration area has been complete since the beginning of the school year. Students continue to receive meals in the original cafeteria while the addition is under construction. Once the addition is complete, they will move to the new cafeteria and the remaining renovation in the lower level will begin. 

The structure, framing and sheathing of the new addition is complete. Asphalt roofing was delayed over the summer due to labor shortage. It has started and will run through October 25th, pending weather. Roofing may be completed earlier. Underground plumbing and electrical work is ongoing with the new concrete floor scheduled to be poured the week of October 7th. 

August 16, 2019: For the addition, structural steel and precast concrete planks are complete. Steel decking will be completed this month. Exterior wall framing and roofing will be complete by end of the month. Substantial completion of interior renovation is scheduled for August 16th, 2019. 

July 16, 2019: Footings complete and back filled. Steel erection will be complete mid-July, and new media center flooring will be installed end of July. Interior renovation work underway with admin area to be substantially complete by August 2, 2019. 

June 27, 2019: Interior renovation work started right after the last day of school. Interior demolition will continue through the end of the month. At the new addition, steel erection and interior masonry concrete wall installation are underway. Precast is scheduled for delivery in July. 

May 30, 2019: Construction has started on the addition. The west side of the building has been excavated, footings poured, and back filled. Interior renovation work in the administration area will begin once school is out for the summer. 

April 9, 2019:  Contractor has been selected and will be awarded to Construction Results pending Board of Education approval at the April meeting.  Construction is slated to start as early as April 22, 2019 on the new addition with excavation and foundation installation.  The south parking lot will no longer be accessible for parking, parent pickup/dropoff, or any other activities. 

February 21, 2019: Bids received and currently under review. 

January 21, 2019:  Project is out for bid.

December 21, 2018:  Construction documents are being finalized for bid.

November 21, 2018: Finishing up design phase of project and preparing for construction documents.

October 12, 2018: Currently in design phase of project. Will provide more information and updates as project progresses to next phase.
