PROJECT UPDATE

August 24, 2018: The work will occur throughout the building while school is in session; to limit disruption, and allow continued use of core teaching and learning, phased construction and intermittent moves will be done. Construction crews are working to finish painting the exposed ceilings above the ductwork and final cleaning and moving in furniture.

Approximately, 30% percent of classrooms will be air conditioned this year. The entire school classroom space will be air conditioned by summer of 2019. Work continues in the auditorium which should be completed in October with new seats, flooring and painting.

July 19, 2018: The new secured entrance is 90% complete. Completely finishing work on the entrance and transitioning to working on major components of the HVAC systems and electrical systems throughout the building. 

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Patrick Henry High School was built in 1926, with multiple additions added thereafter. The total size of the facility today is approximately 229,000 gross square feet. Construction shall commence in spring 2018, and be completed in fall 2019.
  • Major renovation includes significant mechanical, plumbing, electrical, security, fire alarm, clocks, public address, and architectural requirements including a new front entrance addition and auditorium renovation. The renovation shall address deficiencies as related to HVAC, lighting, ADA, plumbing, and security. Core infrastructure and systems will be upgrade or replaced entirely.  The work will occur throughout the school; to limit disruption, and allow continued use of core teaching and learning, phased construction and intermittent moves will be done.
  • Mechanical and Electrical improvements include HVAC upgrades, dehumidification, electrical backbone including feeder panels, a main entrance addition to address ADA and security requirements, door access and camera systems upgrades, and upgraded lighting with LED fixtures.  
  • Architectural and Design Finish improvements include wall, flooring, ceilings, and some windows and wayfinding/signage improvements as impacted by the routing of new mechanical and electrical systems.

Design: Fall 2016 - 2017

Procurement: Winter 2017

Pre-Construction: March 2018

Ground Breaking Ceremony:  Thursday, March 29, 2018 @ 1:00p.m.

Construction:  April 2, 2018
